Accessing Crip Stories with Sick + Twisted Theatre

Tuesday, November 5th | 12 to 1 pm | Online | FREE

Too often arts organizations focus their access efforts on facilitating an audience’s participation without considering what they’re asking artists to participate in. Artists themselves deserve just as much consideration and inclusion when designing a creative performance and program. Artists with disabilities have an understanding of the truths of the human condition that can only be arrived at by confronting the challenges and opportunities presented to us by our exceptional bodies.
Join us as we speak with Debbie Patterson, the founding and current Artistic Director of Sick + Twisted Theatre for an engaging conversation about the importance of facilitating access for artists not just to promote inclusion, but as a powerful tool for social change that benefits us all.

Creative Accessibility Across Canada is a series of workshops that explore disability art, the experiences of artists with disabilities and how to make art accessible. These workshops are not only for emerging artists with disabilities, but arts organizations and artists at all levels of their career with and without disabilities.

Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba is a regional not-for-profit artist run charitable organization dedicated to the full inclusion of artists and audiences with disabilities into all facets of the arts community.
