Presented in partnership with Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery

Join us for Episode 1, Season 4 of Urban Art Biz with Canada Council for the Arts – Creating Knowing Sharing program.

Wednesday, Sept 25, 2023 from 12 – 1:00 pm CDT

Am I eligible for funding? Am I an emerging or established artist? What are the pieces of a grant application, can you apply with the same project to all three funding bodies and how do you do that? What type of expenses can go in your grant budget? Join us in conversation with representatives from The Canada Council For the Arts – Creating, Knowing, Sharing, The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples program to talk about grants for individual artists as we answer these questions and more.

With our very special guests:

J.L Watson – Program Officer Creating, Knowing and Sharing: The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, Arts Granting Program Division – Canada Council for the Arts

Meaghan  Fairfax – Associate Program OfficerCreating, Knowing and Sharing: The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, Arts Granting Program Division – Canada Council for the Arts

We’ll be discussing two very specific funding streams for Indigenous Artists:

Small-Scale Activities – Deadline – Any time before the start date of your project – Up to $3,000

Micro-grants to support the advancement of artistic careers or practices of First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists, arts professionals, groups and organizations, and;

Short-Term Projects – Deadline – 20 November 2024 – Up to $100,000

Support to First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists, groups, and organizations for short-term projects (up to 1 year).

We are offering artists an opportunity to hear from representatives of the CCFA-CKS program. We will cover the basics of:

  • Who can apply for a grant
  • How to apply for a grant
  • What grants are available and upcoming
  • Why you will want to contact the program consultants/officers before you apply

For those who are already in the process of applying for a grant, this workshop may help you put the finishing touches on your applications. For those artists new or hesitant about applying, the workshop will give you some understanding of the funding process for the upcoming deadlines.

Overall, we hope to enlighten and encourage artists to apply for grants, and lessen the intimidation factor by providing insight, information, and encouragement to creating a successful grant application.

The workshop is offered FREE. Please register online by 10:30 am CDT Sept 25, 2024, and a zoom link will be sent to your email address by 11 am!

If you haven’t received the zoom link, please check your junk mail folder.

THIS WORKSHOP WILL NOT BE RECORDED, so please make your best effort to attend!
