Job posting: Fiddling instructor (contract)

Join the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts team! We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and inspiring instructor with a strong background in traditional fiddling to teach in our outreach program, Music Equals.

Music Equals partners with communities across Manitoba to increase access to music education and create welcoming opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate. In this role, instruction extends beyond technical foundations and musicianship to include the sharing of traditional repertoire, styles, histories, and cultural contexts that shape fiddling traditions.

Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced fiddler with deep knowledge of one or more traditional fiddling practices and an appreciation for the diverse cultural influences that contribute to Manitoba’s fiddling communities. Applicants should demonstrate strong musicianship, teaching experience, and/or post-secondary music training. Equally valued are lived experience, mentorship, community involvement, and demonstrated engagement with traditional music practices.

A current Child Abuse Registry check and Respect in School Certificate are required for this position.

Candidates should be available to begin teaching by mid-October. Multiple contracts may be available for group classes, with opportunities to build a private studio for individual instruction if desired.
