MTYP is seeking a strategic, motivated individual to join its team as Director of Development. This full time position is accountable for creating and leading annual multi-year fundraising and sponsorship strategies aimed at increasing private sector revenue through sponsorships and individual, corporate, and foundation gifts. As a member of the Management Team, they support the long-term strategic planning and advancement of MTYP and provide leadership to, and foster enthusiasm for fundraising campaigns and programs among MTYP volunteers, including the Board of Directors, its committees, and community contacts.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of Development maintains a high level of integrity in the stewardship of MTYP’s donors and fundraising volunteers, ensuring the brand and reputation of the organization is well represented through its fund development activities.  The position oversees the MTYP Development Associate and works collaboratively with other department heads and staff. To be successful in this role, candidates should be creative, flexible, and have a passion for sustaining a culture of philanthropy amongst co-workers, volunteers and MTYP stakeholders.

Additional requirements for success:

  • Minimum 5 years experience of progressive fundraising responsibilities and year over year revenue increases through effective planning and executing acquisition and stewardship activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated application in establishing and stewarding donor relationships.
  • Knowledge of strategic and annual program planning and experience aligning both with operational activities to achieve outcomes.
  • Experience managing various revenue streams including annual giving, major gifts, foundations, sponsorships and partnerships, and planned giving, prioritizing strategies and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, with high capacity to create content for written appeals.
  • Experience with CRM functions to support fundraising.
  • Aptitude for balancing long-range thinking with in the moment detail oriented attention and focus.

The following would be further assets to bring to this role:

  • CFRE designation, or interest in achieving CFRE designation.
  • Membership with Association of Fundraising Professionals
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity working with internal and external graphic design professionals in creation of fundraising communications, stewardship reporting, and proposal development.

This is a full time, permanent position.  The hiring salary range for this role is $55,000 – $60,000. The compensation package also includes an opportunity to participate in the MTYP health plan (pending eligibility as determined by the provider), matching RSP program, and 15 days of vacation, accrued annually. Standard hours of work are 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday, however some evening and occasional weekend work may also be required, such as attending opening nights and other MTYP activities.
