Creative Manitoba and Manitoba Music are hiring a Program Leader for The Art of Managing Your Career’s 2025 course. The Art of Managing Your Career (AMYC) Program is a 10-week program delivered by Creative Manitoba in partnership with Manitoba Music and is designed to assist artists of all disciplines to develop the business management and marketing aspects of their arts practice. Working from a thoughtfully developed program workbook, the program will be led by the Program Leader, with training provided by experts in business planning, finance and tax management, marketing and social media, and life work balance.
Additionally, the program provides access to effective one on one business skills coaching delivered by seasoned industry professionals with discipline specific material. Cohort members will also participate in social/peer sharing First Friday showcase opportunities.
The Program Leader will provide a constant presence throughout the 10 weeks of the program and offer encouragement, guidance and mentoring to the participants. The Program Leader role will also entail liaising with guest speakers, leading the participant “show and tell” sessions, and directing the coordination of First Friday events.
Responsibilities & Duties: The Program Leader will:
- Develop peer network and support First Friday showcase events
- Moderate Online Group Chat
- Direct the Professional Development Tuesday evening sessions
- Provide input into the curriculum and liaise with the “guest lecturers/subject matter experts”
- Provide one on one mentorship to participants as capacity allows
- Liaise with Creative Manitoba and Manitoba Music staff to provide updates on class progression
- Provide input into the outcomes reporting and recommended changes, additions, etc. for future cohorts.
Commitment and Compensation:
The Program Leader will be paid a total of $5,500 – approximately 10 hours per week @ $50/hour for 11 weeks (10 week program + 1 week prep). Apart from Tuesday evenings, the time can be flexible and there is an expectation that the Program Leader will familiarize themselves with the curriculum and participate in the application review process to select the final participant roster – this process will take place approximately 2 weeks prior to the program start.
Program Dates: February 4 – April 8, 2025
- Tuesday evenings, 6pm-9pm
- First Fridays: March 7 and April 4
Creative Manitoba/Manitoba Music will provide all course content, curriculum, workbooks, and resources. CM/MM will book, contract, and pay the subject matter experts. CM/MM staff will provide support for the Program Leader as required.
