Photowalker: On My Walk Today by Teena Legris

FreeTeena Legris is an Indigenous artist who revels in life’s context. A self-proclaimed “Photowalker”, Teena offers a glimpse into the perspectives, personalities, side streets, and signs of various Canadian cities and their people, while showcasing the beauty and authenticity of humanity.
Intrigued with the stories behind each composition, she captures moments that inspire reflection while celebrating culture, emotion, and life. She has documented her past decade on Instagram @on_my_walk_today as an insightful digital diary that incorporates various hashtags including #onmywalktoday, #isawasign, and #lookingoutlookingin which speak to her personal lens.
A member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, Teena lived in Pelican Narrows, SK; Brandon, MB; Vancouver, BC for 19 years, and returned to Winnipeg in 2017. Teena has worked as a communications professional with various First Nations and health organizations, and is currently with Indigenous Services Canada, and loves advocating for equitable healthcare and environmental rights for First Nations.
