Self-Advocacy in the Arts

FreeIn this workshop, participants can expect a combination of shared information, group discussion, and tools, strategies and experiential activities relevant to work as an artist and creative processes as well as the general experience of life. Topics include attitudes toward and approaches to conflict, active listening, discerning between discomfort and danger, boundary setting, navigating difficult discussions and emotional self-regulation.
About the Facilitator: Born and raised in Treaty 1 Territory, Alex is a mixed-race dance artist, teacher and creator who has worked and performed as a dancer locally, nationally and internationally. She also works as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Most importantly, she is a parent, partner, daughter, sister, and friend. Alex is interested in our interconnectedness – how we relate to one another, the stories and forces that weave us together, and the ways we seek to belong. In all intersections of her work and life, she values collaboration and intentionality and strives to cultivate environments in which our inherent goodness as humans can be cherished.
