Send + Receive Festival Turns Twenty-Five

Winnipeg’s Send + Receive festival, one of the first festivals on the continent devoted entirely to audio-based art, celebrates 25 years of programming with a concert series that features 13 performances, five of which are by Winnipeg-based artists, and runs from Oct. 12 to 15 with a concluding concert on Oct. 29.

With artists from Indonesia, Japan, Estonia, Australia, and the USA—with a who’s who of innovative prairie artists, this milestone year features a full program of immersive and innovative, delicate and danceable sound. From post-industrial peals of noise to intricately scored techno, freely improvised soundscapes to cascading percussion, this year’s festival promises the widest range of sonic experience in distinct venues, including Graffiti Gallery, Room 201 at the Forks, and Esplanade Riel.
