About us

Jane of All Trades is a residential design and engineering studio in Winnipeg. We design your project, model it, and our structural engineer stamps it — all under one roof — then hand you a permit-ready set you can take to any builder in the city. We don't build, so we have no reason to specify anything but what your project actually needs.

We work on Winnipeg's character homes as well as new builds, additions, kitchens and decks. Our Heritage Home Assessment tells owners of older houses what their home is made of, what's failing, what's merely old, and what heritage grant funding they may qualify for.

Every project is one flat fee, quoted in writing before we begin. Never hourly. A woman-led studio.

Additional Services Offered

Studio licences. Five private studios at Unit A, 359 Johnson Avenue, from 80 to 194 sq ft, licensed month to month. Utilities, business fibre, parking, 24-hour keycard access, and the meeting room eight hours a month. Ground level throughout, with a shared workshop and kitchen. Five studios is the whole building — small enough that everyone knows everyone, and we're deliberate about who's in it.

Workshops. In development for 2027: hands-on sessions in traditional building craft — lime mortar, window repair, working with old materials. Taught in our own shop, aimed at people who own an old building or want to learn how they were made.
