I am a bilingual (Spanish, English) artist, writer, and curator who has been involved in various Winnipeg collectives, most recently active as an editor and co-founder of Carnation Zine. Artistic mediums I work with include photography, video, and printmaking. My artistic practice explores intersections of place, identity, and language with coloniality, temporality, and relation. I was the curator in residence at the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq from 2021 to 2022, presenting a group exhibition on the theme of embodied knowledge. My writing has been published through platforms including Akimbo, C Magazine, and Terremoto.
From my experience in zine collectives, with artist-run centres, and through independent projects, I have taught youth and adult workshops, given presentations, and acted as a mentor. I enjoy interviewing other artists about their work as an event facilitator.
I bring my experience securing 24 grants over the past 7 years for myself and my collectives to my grant consultation and editing services for artists.
