I-Spy Colour Drawings | July 31 – August 6
This week we’re exploring our sense of sight. Learn about how colours and light interact with our eyes by making fun drawings using the colours red and blue. Write hidden messages or draw a secret picture, then show off your work with your very own colour filters!
Scented Paintings | August 7 – 13, 2023
Explore your sense of smell with this aromatic artwork! Every day this week, we’ll be prepped with scented paints to create paintings that will smell too. Try our mix of different scents to paint your favourite snacks and fruits, or maybe make a scent-sational self-portrait!
*BONUS* Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society will be onsite on Friday, August 11, to host some outdoor education and wellness programs. From 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm, we’ll be learning about butterflies. From 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm, we’ll be learning about seeds and movement, and from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm, we’ll be exploring the 5 senses!
Sweet Taste Of Science| August 14 – 20, 2023
Ah, the sweet taste of science! This week at the museum, we’ll be doing some tasty experiments – join us daily to make your very own sweet treat. Using chemical reactions, we’ll be able to mix up some cool concoctions.
Sensory Bins | August 21 – 27, 2023
This week, join us at the museum for some interactive sensory play! Pick a bin to explore texture, movement, and shapes of objects. Get a feel for all the fun objects, tools, and materials we have for you with this hands-on fun!
*BONUS* Children’s author Marilyn Joy Anderson will be joining us on Friday, August 25, from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm to read her book, Just Like You, and answer questions about living with a physical difference.
Making Music | August 28 – September 3, 2023
Keep your ears open for a sound week in the museum! Using recycled materials, create your very own musical instruments. Test out different objects and materials to find what makes music to your ears, and take your own string, wind, or percussion instrument home and make some noise.
*BONUS* James Culleton will be joining us on Friday, September 1, at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm to perform his album, Superfun!
Price is included with general museum admission.
