The Language is in the Drifts | Group Exhibition
December 2, 2023 - February 18, 2024
Centre for Cultural and Artistic Practices is happy to announce a new group exhibition, ‘The Language is in the Drifts.’ It opens on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 and runs until February 18th, 2024.
The opening reception begins at 7 pm.
The exhibition features six Winnipeg-based artists whose gathered works in the exhibition are, in one way or another, rooted in various material practices. The use of ‘materials’ here are equal parts agents of process, structure, and signifier. Moreover, these material-based practices and their resultant objects are foregrounded here for their composite identities and, as such, constitute drifts in linguistic and interpretive certainty. The artists here work between painting, debris, textiles, paper products, decoration, bits of texts, light, construction materials, and more. Their work is the outcome of coalescing discrete parts, wavering out of binaries and into a kind of representational indeterminacy.
