April 24: Marketing and Communications with Katie Inverarity
Join us for a crash course on marketing & communications for arts organizations! During this session, you’ll learn why you should prioritize patron loyalty while seeking new audiences. Hear about scale of hall and ticket pricing strategies. Explore best practices for campaign planning, revenue and expense budgeting for subscriptions and single ticket efforts. We’ll also talk digital, with a specific focus on email communications and social media strategies.
Katie Inverarity (she/her) is currently the Director of Marketing & Communications for the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Previous positions include Director of Marketing & Communications for the Canadian Stage Company (Toronto); Director of Executive Recruitment with TRG (Colorado); and has also held marketing positions with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Mirvish Productions (Toronto) and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
In June of 2018, Katie received a Certificate of Graduation (Accredited) for completing Leadership Winnipeg and in June of 2019, she completed an eight-month intensive Cultural Leadership Program through Banff Centre for the Arts. A lifelong learner, this fall, Katie will complete her Human Resources Certificate through Red River College.
In her volunteer time, Katie is a regular presenter, moderator, and planning committee member for the Tessitura annual conference. Katie is current past chair of Heartwood Healing Centre (formerly the Laurel Centre) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Previously Katie has served on the Board of the Toronto Alliance of the Performing Arts, as well as chaired their Marketing Committee.

As part of our Arts Management Lunch & Learn series, Dr. Lana Adeleye-Olusae will be talking to us about general best practices in HR and where to get started in your organization.
Dr. Lana Adeleye-Olusae (he/him) is a seasoned human resource professional, researcher and coach skilled in offering employee and organizational development strategy solutions in support of business goals’ achievement. He brings a wealth of experience in developing and implementing strategic directions for business units, start-ups and projects in various industry sectors to bear on his assignments. He is currently Director of Human Resources at The Manitoba Museum and also offers management consulting services under Surefooting Consulting, Training and Coaching Inc. to small and medium-sized organizations in various sectors.

Cancellation policy
Creative Manitoba reserves the right to cancel or postpone any event where a minimum registration level has not been met. Participants registered for an event that is cancelled by Creative Manitoba will receive a full refund.
Registrants may cancel up to one week before the event to receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued to registrants who cancel within one week of the event start date. No refunds will be issued for registrants who do not attend.
Substitute participants are allowed in most cases, but not all. Please check with us ahead of time if you wish to send a substitute participant by calling 204-927-2787.
