In Retrospect
June 7 at7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
FreeShowcasing six recent U of M fine art graduates, In Retrospect brings together a diverse range of artworks created by the artists during their time at the U of M School of Fine Arts.
Artworks including paintings, sculpture, and installation, pursue a common thread of self-expression and experimentation. With themes related to anxiety, emotions, the figure, memory, longing, mourning and what it means to be truly seen. The exhibition’s range of talent and contemplative subject matter inspires the audience to understand art as a tool, that are both visually pleasing and healing.
Initially, many of these works were exhibited for a short period at the School of Art Building on the U of M’s Fort Gary campus. This show unites these artworks once again, giving students an opportunity to emerge into the Winnipeg art scene and to be celebrated among fellow Winnipeggers. The Graffiti Gallery is excited to support these up-and-coming artists as they transition from the institutional context to the wider art world.
