This one-day condensed version of Creative Manitoba’s The Art of Managing Your Career for Indigenous Artists course presents an overview of the practical skills you need to grow your arts and culture career! This course offers an invaluable skillset to artists, crafts people and creative entrepreneurs, including envisioning and developing a career strategy, a business plan, marketing and promoting your work, bookkeeping and budgeting tips!

The course is open to anyone with an existing or emerging arts practice including craftspeople, dancers, filmmakers, musicians, new media content creators, visual artists, writers and knowledge keepers. If you are a self-employed artist, or looking to increase the portion of your employment derived from your art, then this course is for you. Coffee, tea and a light lunch will be served.

Instructor:
Yvette Hawkes (Métis) is a Winnipeg based freelance visual artist specializing in custom mixed media artwork and acrylic paintings. Yvette is an instructor, writer and organizer, who revels in sharing her experiences, the good and the bad, as both a Small Business Coach and a Consultant.

Cancellation policy

Creative Manitoba reserves the right to cancel or postpone any event where a minimum registration level has not been met. Participants registered for an event that is cancelled by Creative Manitoba will receive a full refund.

Registrants may cancel up to one week before the event to receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued to registrants who cancel within one week of the event start date. No refunds will be issued for registrants who do not attend.

Substitute participants are allowed in most cases, but not all. Please check with us ahead of time if you wish to send a substitute participant by calling 204-927-2787.
