Join us to celebrate the artist and work of Franklin Fernando!
Part of First Fridays in the Exchange
3rd floor, Creative Manitoba, 245 McDermot Avenue
Opening reception: June 7, 2019 5:30-8:30pm
Franklin is a prolific artist known for his broad brushstrokes and bold use of colour. His paintings explode with life and movement, inviting you in to take a closer look. Franklin’s show will be available for viewing during regular business hours until August 2019.
In this ever-evolving world of expressions, art will be the past, present, and future. My goal is to create a positive message through colour and sound for the very short period I share on this beautiful and wild planet I call home.
Franklin Fernando is a successful, up-and-coming musician and visual artist. He was born in 1991 in Winnipeg; however, he was raised for most of his youth in Sri Lanka. He returned to Winnipeg in 2007 because of longstanding civil war between two Sri Lankan ethnic groups, the Tamils and the Sinhalese.
Vivid landscapes, portraits of emotions, and his use of bold and bright colours have drawn the attention of the community, locally and internationally. Gaining a fast reputation as a visual artist, Franklin released his first reggae album, “Its a dream’ under the group RasTamils in 2010. New music is on the way; he will be releasing singles under his own label, Stereo Tabu. His work is currently showcasing at Cafe Carlo and Frescolio.
