Join the Gimli Film Festival’s Director Aaron Zeghers for an introduction into Live Broadcasting!  As GFF makes the shift to online for it’s upcoming 20th Anniversary (July 22 to 26), Aaron has taken a crash course in live broadcasting platforms, software and hardware in preparation to launch GFF Live Stream – a series of live events including film screenings, filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, masterclasses and more!  Aaron’s class will focus on working with the open-source live broadcasting software OBS on both MAC and PC to broadcast to a variety of online platforms, including YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Twitch and more!  This is an introductory class meant for those with little-to-no experience with live broadcasting but with an eagerness to learn!

Aaron Zeghers is a filmmaker, Festival Director of the Gimli Film Festival, and founder of the Winnipeg Undeground Film Festival.Zeghers’ films have screened at festivals and venues around the world including International Film Festival Rotterdam, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Festival du nouveau cinéma, DOXA Film Festival, and New York’s Mono No Aware. Zeghers has also toured widely, performing his expanded cinema work in Rotterdam, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Chicago, Vancouver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Toronto and more.Zeghers has worked for the Gimli Film Festival since 2013 when he was hired as the festival’s Film Programmer. In 2018 he took over as the Festival Director.Zeghers is also the founder of the Winnipeg Underground Film Festival and the Open City Cinema ongoing film screening series. He is the former President of the Winnipeg Film Group and a Producer Member of Video Pool Media Arts Centre and a board member of the Independent Media Arts Alliance.

Cancellation policy

Creative Manitoba reserves the right to cancel or postpone any event where a minimum registration level has not been met. Participants registered for an event that is cancelled by Creative Manitoba will receive a full refund.

Registrants may cancel up to one week before the event to receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued to registrants who cancel within one week of the event start date. No refunds will be issued for registrants who do not attend.

Substitute participants are allowed in most cases, but not all. Please check with us ahead of time if you wish to send a substitute participant by calling 204-927-2787.

UPDATED COVID CANCELLATION POLICY: If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms, DO NOT attend in-person workshops. Refunds will be given to anyone who cannot attend a workshop due to illness.
