There are times when introspection and isolation are the norm. Recently they have been imposed from outside. Yet in art practice, they are sometimes self-imposed. It is a time to revisit, to search and create.
Studio time becomes imperative and takes up the artist’s

attention and energy. The result is often a number of bodies of work. In my practice, this is often the case as I work in different areas of textile practice and branch out into other art forms.
Then there is the other side of the issue. The work should be seen. There is the need to connect and display: a surfacing after an interior period.
Ingrid Lincoln is a textile artist who is interested in colour and texture on fabric. Her works are mainly abstract and convey a mood. Dyeing of fabric is a constant in the work. The work incorporates materials other than fabric, including resin, organic material, paper and metal. The resulting work is either mixed media wall pieces and three-dimensional work or wearable items.
Ingrid Lincoln holds certificates in Design and Embroidery from the City & Guilds of London Institute and a B.A. (Hon.) in Embroidered Textiles from Middlesex University, London, England. She has exhibited throughout Canada and the United States. As a result of two residencies at the Banff Centre; she has exhibited work relating to women who explored the Rocky Mountains at the Whyte Museum in Banff. She has recently been a mentee with the MAWA mentorship program.
