Biography
Cindy Lou Rothery was born in Winnipeg, MB, where she currently lives, and was raised in Winnipeg Beach. She works as a juvenile counsellor with incarcerated youth and has a BA honours degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology. From a very young age, she loved to sketch. She lived in a small town, and her school did not offer art classes, and a fine art degree was not an option at her University.
In 2017, while exploring art online, she came across an alcohol ink art painting and was immediately enthralled. She began taking online courses and practiced a lot. While she loves doing abstract landscape art, she is also drawn to realism and has incorporated the use of other media. She aspires to have her viewers look at her art and form their own interpretation of what it means to them. One of the first things people notice about her art is her use of bright, vibrant colours. Although she is enamoured of alcohol inks, Cindy enjoys sketching and has expanded her voice to using other media such as charcoal, pastels and coloured pencils. Cindy’s had her art displayed at “The Federation of Canadian Artists” in Vancouver, “The Society of Canadian Artists in Toronto,” “Framing and Arts Center” in Winnipeg, and of course, “Cre8ery” gallery in Winnipeg.
