About the Artist: Cynthia Boehm
Cynthia Boehm is Cree with Scottish ancestry, born and raised in Norway House, Manitoba. She now lives in St Andrews, Manitoba. Growing up in Norway House, she was surrounded by this intricate, delicate art form, and she was inspired and influenced by her parents, great-grandmother, and the many elderly crafters in her community. She learned to bead and design traditional moccasins and fell in love with the art form. Cynthia showcases and sells her designs with various programs and art/craft markets in both Manitoba and the USA and teaches beadwork and traditional wears. She won an award in the 2018 Interlake Juried Art Show for her bridal moccasins.
She continues to work with the Elders, her most valued teachers, to ensure her work remains traditional. She has a strong dedication to provide high-quality and unique traditional pieces of art. She is grateful and blessed to carry on the tradition of her ancestors.
