st.ART Project Assistant Coordinator

Graffiti Art Programming Inc. (GAP) is hiring for the position of st.ART Project Assistant Coordinator. This is a term position running from May through October 25, 2026. This position is supported by Culture Works Canada’s Student Work Placement program and Canada Summer Jobs. The st.ART Project Assistant Coordinator will work closely with the st.ART Coordinator to support workshops and summer art camps at community locations. The position would best fit a post-secondary student studying Fine Art, Art History, or Education. The role will offer the chosen candidate the chance to develop skills in community art programming.

Graffiti Art Programming is a not-for-profit youth art centre that provides free art programming and mentorship to youth in Winnipeg’s Downtown and North End communities.

Terms of Position: 

Type: Term

Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour

Hours: Up to 30 hours per week, schedule to be determined. Afternoon and evening hours required, some weekend shifts required.

Duration: ASAP – October 25, 2026

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with young people.
  • Plan and facilitate youth programming.
  • Support the st.ART Coordinator with staff scheduling and project development, and support instructors with workshop delivery.
  • Support organizational strategic priorities of increasing participant visits and community connections.
  • Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and local events to plan and facilitate programming that supports the needs of youth.
  • Create promotional material including social media content and posters.
  • Maintain supply inventory, purchase supplies as needed, assist with preparing and transporting supplies to workshops sites.
  • Data entry and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Meet the requirements for Culture Works Canada’s Student Work Placement program and Canada Summer Jobs: 30 years of age or older at the start of employment; a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; be a post-secondary student enrolled either full-time or part-time for Winter 2026 and Fall 2026 terms.
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Demonstrated skills in community engagement and ability to work in an anti-oppressive framework.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, reliable and demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team, the ability to take direction and to self-direct.
  • Valid class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry check.
