For members living outside of Winnipeg, we offer several ways to benefit from our learning opportunities.
Multi-day intensives
Some training events are intentionally designed as multi-day intensives so that rural members can travel and stay for the duration. Examples include our Community Arts Practice Foundations course and Ozhitoon Jii-Miigiweng (to create and to share).
50% discount for rural members
Rural members get a 50% discount for in-person training events in Winnipeg, excluding The Art of Managing Your Career. We offer this incentive to help rural members cover travel and accommodation costs.
Manitoba Arts Council’s Travel/Professional Development Grant
The Manitoba Arts Council’s Travel/Professional Development Grant provides support to professional artists, arts administrators, and professional community arts practitioners to attend or participate in activities related to the development of their practice/careers.
Condensed workshops
We offer a condensed version of our Art of Managing Your Career course in cities and towns throughout Manitoba. Please contact Rachel at training@creativemanitoba.ca if you’d like to host a one-day AMYC in your area!
Distance learning
Many of our classes and workshops offer a distance learning option for rural members. Examples include our Art of Managing Your Career course and webinars. We recommend that anyone participating using Zoom has a headset microphone and a hard-wired internet connection. We also recommend scheduling a test with us beforehand. We cannot be responsible for technical problems due to failed or low-speed internet connections, or interruptions in service.
Rural/community mentorships
We offer rural/community mentorships for 16–29 year-olds living outside Winnipeg but within Manitoba. Mentorship partnerships are aimed at a variety of artistic disciplines, including: writing/publishing, museum, film, photography, crafts, multimedia, design, theatre, dance, music and visual arts with an artistic, administrative or technical focus. Applications for this program are accepted between August and October each year. Programs may take place over any period of 5-8 months between October and June.
